  Barry S. Horowitz M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E.

  Board Certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Dr. Horowitz graduated from Cornell University with distinction in all subjects and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He subsequently received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Barry S. Horowitz completed both his internal medicine residency and fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. During his fellowship, Dr. Horowitz conducted research in several areas of endocrinology, including cholesterol metabolism, osteoporosis and diabetes. He has written several articles that have been published in medical journals and has co-authored a chapter on diabetes and cholesterol in a major medical textbook. Dr. Horowitz continues to participate in research studies and is co-director of The Metabolic Research Institute in West Palm Beach. Dr. Horowitz joined Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists in 1992. He believes that patients hold the key to their medical problems, “If I can put my patients in control through education, I have done them a great service. I also like to stress lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise and use only the most current therapy when medication becomes necessary.” Dr. Barry S. Horowitz also believes that communication is essential in his relationships with patients. He adds, “I encourage and look forward to my patients’ questions.” Dr. Horowitz is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association and the National Osteoporosis Foundation. He is also a founding member of the Florida Lipid Associates. The current past President of the Florida Affiliate of the American Heart Association, Dr. Horowitz continues to lecture both locally and nationally on a variety of endocrine related topics.   Shital R. Patel M.D.

  Board Certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Following her Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine from Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Patel completed her clinical fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Pittsburgh. During this time she actively participated in the management of endocrine disorders in patients at the inpatient and outpatient treatment levels, including transplant patient services. Certified as a clinical Densitometrist by the Society of Clinical Densitometry, Dr. Shital R. Patel is also accredited by the American College of Endocrinologists to perform ultrasound guided biopsy of thyroid gland. Dr. Patel has published several articles in major professional journals on various topics including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and infections of the thyroid gland. In addition to providing the diagnosis, care and treatment of general disorders of the endocrine system, Dr. Patel’s special interests are in the treatment of: Excessive Hair Growth or Loss Thyroid Disease Weight Gain/Weight Loss Diabetes Cholesterol Disorders Polycystic Ovary Dr. Shital R.   Maria E. Gutierrez M.D., F.A.C.E.

  Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Medical Education Ponce School of Medicine, Ponce, P.R. Valedictorian - Class 1996 Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society Residency and Fellowship Training Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA -Received the Louis Trentin Award for Most Outstanding 3rd Year Resident. Clinical Experience Dr. Gutierrez practiced for 17 years at Boynton Beach Endocrinology, PA where she developed a vast clinical experience. She treated patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and other endocrine disorders in both the out-patient and in-patient setting. She also served as preceptor for podiatry residents at Bethesda East Hospital. Dr. Gutierrez is a member of: American Association of Clinical Endocrinology American College of Physicians Florida Medical Association Endocrine Society She is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Gutierrez is a strong believer in the mind-body connection, "I consider myself the unofficial psychologist and eternal cheerleader of my patients."   Kort C. Knudson M.D., F.A.C.E.

  Board Certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine; Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism A practicing private endocrinologist since 1985, Dr. Kort C. Knudson joined Palm Beach Diabetes & Endocrine Specialists, PA in 2014. Dr. Knudson received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his Residency training in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Ohio where he served as Chief Medical Resident from 1976-1978. Dr. Knudson performed a clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Connecticut in 1980. In addition to acting as a consultant for the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut, he was named Chief of Endocrinology at Middlesex Hospital from 1985-2013. He is a current member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, Middlesex County Medical Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Kort C. Knudson specializes in the treatment of diabetes and other endocrine disorders. He will be seeing patients in our Wellington and Boynton Beach office location.

  Geetanjali Kale M.D.

  Board Certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Dr. Geetanjali Kale, who joined Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists in 2015, received her medical degree from the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College in 2004. Dr. Kale completed her Internal Medicine training at The University of Miami School of Medicine, where she was Chief Resident. She then went on to the University of Wisconsin Hospital for her Endocrinology Fellowship. Dr. Kale is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Kale specializes in the treatment of diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, as well as women’s endocrine health issues Dr. Kale will be seeing patients at our Boynton Beach and Wellington office locations:
